Description: We will divide into two work groups. One group will focus on Habitat type work, and the other will lead VBS. The Habitat group’s service will be with the Mitchell and Yancey Counties chapters of Habitat for Humanity. We will be helping to build decent and affordable single-family homes. The group may also work at the Habitat Resale store and at other agencies and schools where physical work is needed.
The other half of the group will lead Vacation Bible School for children and youth at Crossnore School (a residential school for neglected children). On Friday, all of the servants will interact with developmentally disabled adults at Yellow Mountain Enterprises as we hold a “Field Day Picnic” with them.
Our base will be Camp Linn Haven, a Lutheran camp in Linville, N.C. This setting gives us room for refreshment and recreation which includes swimming pool, basketball, volleyball courts, large fields and walking trails. Our days begin and end with daily devotion, community life, Bible study and worship. This helps us focus our serving through faith in Jesus Christ.
